School-Readiness Program

Our school readiness ABA programs are implemented by highly skilled Registered Behavior Technician’s under the supervision of a BCBA. Our treatment team will collaborate with teachers/caregivers, district personnel and other service providers to ensure your child has the social, emotional, and behavioral competence required to ensure their success in school. Our school-based treatment programs equip children with autism spectrum disorder with the fundamental skills needed to succeed in an academic setting.

  • Communication Skills
Language and communication skills are a common priority for parents of children with autism. ABA therapy teaches functional communication and verbal language skills using evidence-based strategies. Whether by vocal language, textual communication, sign language, picture exchange (PECS) or augmentative communication (AAC), our team specializes in fostering your child’s ability to communicate their wants and needs.
  • Social/Emotional Skills
Individuals with autism spectrum disorder may have difficulty engaging in activities that require social interaction (e.g., peer play, making eye contact with others). Social/Emotional learning involves the development of interpersonal skills such as, understanding the perspective of others, initiating social interactions, developing relationships, and managing their own emotions. ABA therapy is an effective approach for developing your child’s ability to “break the ice”.
  • Self-help Skills
Self-help skills are those required for an individual to independently care for themselves. This includes skills such as washing hands, dressing, brushing teeth, bathing, etc. Our team specializes in developing individualize programs to teach individuals with autism spectrum disorder independent living skills.
  • Behavior Reduction
Children with autism spectrum disorder often engage in challenging behaviors that may be unsafe or disruptive to the environment or socially stigmatizing to the individual. These behaviors include self-injury, aggression, property destruction, severe tantrum, non-compliance, repetitive behaviors, and stereotypy (“stemming”). Our team specializes in developing comprehensive behavior plans to address challenging behavior by.

Parent Training

Parent training as an essential component of behavior treatment programming. Today, parent training has support as an evidence-based tool for providing instruction to parents on research-based teaching procedures that meets the needs of their unique learner. The goal of parent training is for parents to become co-facilitators in the intervention process.

By training parents to implement behavior intervention strategies it not only improves the effectiveness of an intervention program, but also allows skills to be generalized and sustained over time. Parent training research has also demonstrated that parents of children with developmental disorders who engaged in parent training report the following:

  • A better understanding of behavioral deficits commonly associated with autism spectrum disorder and other impacting disorders.
  • Improvement in child’s language/socialization and decrease in challenging behaviors including tantrum, self-injury, stereotypy, etc.
  • Reduced stress and more positive feelings about influencing their child’s development including an increased over-arching optimism about their child’s future.
